About VelpasConn

VelpasConn is a Brisbane-based commercial construction company founded by three builders who had been planning to build their own company for years. The timing was right, and we had the right team.

Between us, we have 49 years in commercial construction across nearly every sector and project type. Hospitals, schools, rail infrastructure, industrial facilities, retail centres, aged care. Live environments and greenfield sites, from fitouts through to major infrastructure programmes.

The reason we started VelpasConn is simple: projects don’t need to be as hard as the industry makes them. Too much friction, too much bureaucracy, too many problems that could be avoided with better planning and communication. We had all seen it. We had all lived it.

Starting from scratch gave us the chance to build the business around every lesson we had learnt. Not just rely on experience to avoid repeating mistakes, but hardwire the fixes into how the company runs.

All three of us manage projects, we are on site, we chair meetings. We are builders at heart. That hasn’t changed, and it won’t.

As commercial builders in QLD, we adhere to the following values
Operational Certainty
Every project gets a structured programme, clear accountabilities, and systems built to catch problems early. Not at the next monthly meeting when it is too late to fix them cheaply.
Transparency

Weekly reporting that covers the contractual requirements and the things that usually fall through the gaps. Pending decisions, programme slippage, risks, cost movements. If something is brewing, you will hear about it that week.

Respect for Time
We don’t call trades to site until the site is ready. We don’t let variation pricing drift until it becomes a problem. We plan access, staging, and constraints before work starts. That protects everyone’s time, including our trade partners’.
Built for a Reason
Every system we use exists because of a specific problem we have seen on projects. Nothing is there for show. If we can’t explain why a process exists in one sentence, it doesn’t belong.

The V-Method

The V-Method is our operating system.
The V-Method is our operating system. It ties together what is required under the head contract with the things we have learnt need to happen but usually don’t. It is a living system that sharpens with every project.

Insurance & Compliance

We are a QBCC-licensed builder (Licence No. 15559703 – Builder Open), fully insured, and aligned with Integrated Management System (IMS) standards to ensure quality, safety, and compliance across every project. Our coverage includes $20M Public Liability and $10M Professional Indemnity, giving you confidence and peace of mind from start to finish.

  • Safety, Quality & Environment

How We Manage Risk on Site

Safety is not negotiable.

Every project runs under our Integrated Management System, aligned with ISO 45001 (Safety), ISO 9001 (Quality), and ISO 14001 (Environmental). That means structured safety planning, quality hold points, and environmental controls from day one.

We run daily pre-start meetings, weekly site safety audits, and project-specific Safe Work Method Statements for every high-risk activity. Quality is managed through Inspection and Test Plans with defined hold points and sign-off gates. Environmental management covers waste, dust, noise, and contamination, planned before work starts and reviewed weekly.

These are tracked and reported as part of the Status Line. Safety, quality, and environmental performance sit alongside programme and cost in every weekly report. If something isn’t where it should be, a founder knows about it that week.
